In this beautiful companion work to The Sun, My Father, Nils-Aslak Valkeapää opens a wider perspective on indigenous peoples' place and significance in the world. The narrator travels to deserts and jungles and continues the journey of exploration among indigenous peoples begun in Trekways of the Wind. Valkeapää chose archival photos to accompany his own poetry, paintings, and photographs. The layout and construction of the book is stunning, with onion-skin overlays of the title page and a foil-stamped cloth cover under an embossed dust jacket. The book also includes a forward by two of the three translators, Harald Gaski, Lars Nordström, and Ralph Salisbury.
