The Sun, My Father is perhaps the best known work of Sámi author, musician and artist Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, and received the Nordic Council's Literature Prize in 1991. In nearly 600 reflective free verse poems, Valkeapää shares the life and landscape of the Sámi, referring to nature, myth, family and culture, and the circumstances of indigenous peoples. The English edition does not include the photographs included in the original Sámi edition, according to the wishes of the author. It does include one poem in the original Sámi language. Imported from Norway.
